In Memory of Arlene Hooker Fay

Much has been written replete with memorials to Arlene’s life and art.  We have assembled a compilation of a few of those memories with credit due the authors.

It clear that Arlene was dedicated to the furtherance of modern western Art and was particularly fond of new artists of this genre’.  She demonstrated this fondness in her generosity to any newcomers with her time, her work, her home and often her finances.   As we’ve described our mission, is to not only preserve Arlene’s memory in her own work, but to recognize her old friends, and her new friends (many whom she will never get the chance to meet), who engender her respect and love for all people living in today’s west.  This includes those indigenous peoples as well as the sons and daughters of those more recent settlers in the West, particularly those living under the Big Sky of Montana.  To that end, while she made profound use of color in her creations, she was truly “color blind” when it came to her own conduct,  perception and portrayal of life in these times.

We intend to continue to support those charities that Arlene was particularly fond of.  These include the Children’s Receiving Home of Great Falls and Big Brothers and Sisters of Great Falls and Cascade County.
